How It Started

Amanda & Tim met in poetry school in Syracuse, New York.

Fun fact: even with a 99% match on OKCupid, Amanda initially resisted Tim’s offer of a date. This may have had something to do with the fact that Tim’s invitation was to Wendy’s.

Deep-fried food holds a central place in the Timanda story, though, as Tim proposed to Amanda at Mother’s Cupboard, a literal shack of a diner with a water tower on one side and a pocket graveyard on the other.

At Mother’s Cupboard, finishing their signature, gargantuan “fretta” (local term for an egg-based hash) nets you a t-shirt and your picture on the wall. Tim and Amanda’s picture is not on the wall, despite them arguably having experienced a more life-altering moment there than the polishing off of five pounds of eggs and sausage.
